Little Home: Festive Fall

Halloween is tomorrow!!!!
Can I just ask though, where the hell did October go?!? How is it that the beginning of November is just a short day and half away? Now that Halloween is coming and going, I know I will be gearing up for the holidays and by holidays I mean, Christmas!!! The bah-humbuggers will balk at this statement but with only 8 weeks left till Christmas and the fact that I'm only getting bigger by the day, mama needs to get her shit together now.

I'm not giving Halloween and Thanksgiving the shaft yet though.
I love decorating for the holidays and especially fall with all the pumpkins and mums.
It makes my rather bland porch pop with color and adds some festive fall oomph to our block.

Here's our Little Home: Fall Edition 2013

P.S. Our pretty little pumpkins that me and my neighbor drilled (the H and design one above) sadly met their demise a couple weeks ago when they started rotting. Moldy pumpkins....yeahhhh.....B was not too happy he had to clean up that mess.

Little Home: Bring On Spring

With the temperatures warming up this weekend, B and I went hard at the Little Home trying to get everything sparkly, shining, and smelling good. Being locked up and stuffed away all winter, it was finally a sigh of relief to open up some doors and let the fresh air in a little bit.

I can't wait for the days when all the windows are open as I sit blogging in the fresh natural light and warm spring breeze. Ahhhh, a girl can dream. In the mean time though, I decided to take the Little Home's bare decor and dress it up a little bit to entice Spring to come a little sooner.
It feels good to have some color and especially pretty pastels to greet me when I get home from work.
I feel a little bad that I shafted St. Patrick's Day but with Easter coming in March this year, my spring decor won that fight.

Do you decorate for Spring?
What's your style, bright colors or muted pastels?

The Little Kitchen: Semi Revealed

It's been awhile since I talked about anything Little Home related on here, which seems odd since my blog is titled Little Woman, Little Home. But I am going to try to rectify that today by giving you a glimpse in our semi remodeled little kitchen...and I strongly suggest the word little.

This is what our kitchen looked like...
BEFORE:
No offense to the previous owner (love ya D.) but country kitchen is not really Big Man and my style. Another problem was that she was a smoker inside the house and alot of the walls were stained because of it.

Before moving into the new house, Big Man and I decided we wanted light and bright colors that would give the house a crisp and clean, yet a cozy and comfortable look. The kitchen is on the small side so we wanted to lighten and open it up as best we could...

Minimal AFTER:
This is just a small glimpse into what we accomplished but I wanted to show it off none the less.
Gone is the country wallpaper border and the crimson paint.

I'm not a cooker in the least but since the kitchen and the laundry room are the only two rooms that decently done already, I find myself wanting to be in there the most. I'm loving how our visions are coming together and I can't wait till I can show you completely finished rooms.

Lucky for you (ok and for me), that may not be too long from now.
We have ordered our new flooring for the living room and dining room and a new sectional, both of which will be here the first week of December. So this month Big Man and I are will priming and painting our asses off in preparation.

Eeekk....it's all getting real now.

And before I forget...let me show you one thing that also makes me kitchen loving heart go pitter patter....
My new kitchen curtains that compliment our wall color perfectly.
I am just absolutely in love with that floral pattern and I give Big Man props for
a.) knowing what a valance is
b.) picking out one that compliments what we got.

If you haven't noticed already, this house stuff is making me a giddy mess.
I'm sorry.
no i'm not. :)

Our Fall Little Home

It's Halloween homies and due to the storm, our festivities and trick-or-treating have been postponed till Sunday. In the meantime though, I thought I'd show you our fall-ified Little Home before we bring down the Halloween garb next week.

Happy Hauntings To You All

Celebrating Baby Jameson!!!

I had been going on for weeks about how I was preparing for  my sister's baby shower and this past Sunday, the party finally happened. The reason I was a stressed out more than usual was that I missed my godson/nephew G's birth and never got to throw a baby shower for her then (I was living in Florida) so I wanted to make up for it now.

I wasn't able to get as many pictures or as good of pictures as I wanted since I had to be the hostess with the mostess but I hope my sister and her little fam enjoyed the baby shower me and her MIL put on..

Their was no real theme for the shower but I went with blue, orange, and green as the party colors...
My nephews name will be Jameson and Big Man did a awesome job of making that sign on the left for my sister. You may not know this but Big Man is quite the little carpenter when it comes to making little signs out of wood and such, I'll save that post for another day though.

I did make one exception in the party colors and made this Raiders diaper cake for my sister...
She is a die hard Raiders fan and after I saw a Raiders diaper cake she pinned on Pinterest, I knew I had to make her one. Once she walked in, that was one of the first things she saw and she loved it. I'm glad, because let me tell you rolling all those diapers were a pain in the ass and the thing actually holding it all up in the middle is a wine bottle.

My sisters MIL took care of the hot food and I was in charge of the desserts. Baking is one of the few things in the kitchen I can do, so I took the job very seriously and tried to make the best damn dessert table I could...

I wasn't playing when it came to the desserts.
I got the marshmallow and Rice Krispie kabobs and balls done during the week but I was sweating on Saturday night trying to get the cookies and brownies done, along with dipping pretzels for the favors.
I think it came out pretty well and I'm def. glad I picked up these white plastic plates at Party City to give it a more cohesive look.

I also set up a game table so I had easy access to all the games I had planned...

I searched high and low on the internet for different types of baby shower games to play. I know some people don't like games at showers but our family and friends are the kind that do.

The games I ended up choosing were:
No Baby Necklaces: I used green yarn to make necklaces with pacifier favors at the end and through out the shower, you were not allowed to say the word 'baby'. If another person caught you, they could take your necklace and the one who had the most at the end won a prize.

Guess How Big The Belly Is: Again using yarn everybody had to guess how big my sisters belly was. Kinda a depressing game for her since everyone guessed bigger than she actually was but she took it in stride.

Dirty Chocolate Diaper Game: You get an assortment of chocolate candy bars and melt them into a diaper and the guests need to guess which 'dirty diaper' is what candy bar. So gross but so funny to watch people play. I had a little snafu though while preparing the diapers. Silly me, was melting a Kit Kat in the microwave and unintentionally walked away from it. Next thing I know people are asking what stinks and what smells like smoke...and low and behold I burned a diaper in the microwave. The diaper was burnt up and actually left a mark on the inside of the microwave. Thank god it didn't turn into a fire.

What Baby Did That?!?:
I heard of alot of cute games where hosts asked the dad questions that the momma to be had to answer but I took a different approach and had my mom and BIL's mom give me stories from when my sister and BIL were younger and made the guests guess which baby it was. Big Man and I made paddles out of Popsicle sticks and construction paper (orange and blue ones above) and had each of their first initials on either side. This game went over extremely well and it was fun to see what everyone guessed. My BIL had some pretty funny stories so everyone was cracking up.

And last but not least
Baby Bottle Race: Men usually get out of playing any games so when I saw this online I knew I had to do it. You get baby bottles and fill them up with either beer or soda and the boys had to race to see who could finish theirs the fastest.

I started the game off by explaining that the biggest babies that any of us have in our homes is our husbands or boyfriends and it was time for these babies to take a bottle....
I think out of all the games everyone loved this one the most because we got to put the boys on the spot and roast them a little bit.

I don't know whether I should be proud or embarrassed but Big Man actually won this race...
What can I say, he knows his way around a nipple....haha.

We had to keep our decorations to a minimum since the hall had some rather strict rules but here is a look at what the tables looked like...
The centerpieces were vases filled with candy melt chocolate dipped pretzels that served as favors.

I also made little personalized place cards to accompany the favors.

We also set up a cake table for the cake we got to honor the little man...

In the picture frame is a blue and orange-ified picture of his ultrasound for my sister to have for his nursery and the people at Wally World to a fab job at making the cake. It looks a little yellow in the pictures but it was actually a lime greem with orange, light blue, and navy accents.

All in all I personally think it turned out to be a great party, I hope my sis and BIL think so because I can't wait to meet this little man of theirs.
Love you guys!!!
